Why this program
This is a program equips change management practitioners to elevate their impact with an experience design approach. It is a very hands-on program full of opportunities to gain support in real-time on your current client challenges, as well as acquire new knowledge and valuable capability.
You can expect outcomes such as:
- Solid orientation to designing experiences of change for affected stakeholders of your change initiatives
- New insights and perspectives to challenge traditional ways of shaping stakeholder engagement
- Knowledge of useful tools and models to design experiences that are fit for purpose
- Consideration for how what is learnt can be immediately put into practice

- What is experience design and how design thinking integrates with change management
- Working through a design process for an change experience on a case study
- Designing equitable experiences
- Designing experiences that are valuable to those who are having them
- Designing for new behaviors and behavioral change
- Designing experiences with others
Program structure and teaching approach
This program is delivered over a six-week period and is organised as follows:
- 6 x weekly facilitated 3-hour training sessions (online, using Zoom and other digital tools)
- 6 x 30-min post-session activity to read/watch recommended content with questions for reflection
- 6 x 30-min self-directed activity with guidance and tools
- 6 x 30-min peering sharing session with someone from the same cohort
Sessions are live virtual instructor-led and facilitated to maximize interaction and practice. Each session is recorded and securely stored in CMR’s Community Hub, where participants can also access pre-work, homework, and class materials for their cohort.

What is expected of participants
To ensure a productive and impactful learning experience, participants are expected to:
- Intermediate-level and above practitioner in change management: Participants need prior change management experience as well as people skills to work effectively with change stakeholders, ensuring a shared baseline of knowledge and experience among participants. This is not an introductory level program for recent graduates or people newly curious about change management.
- Commit to active participation: Engage fully in all live training sessions, interactive discussions, and practical activities to gain the most value from the program.
- Dedicate time outside of sessions: Plan to spend 1-2 hours between sessions for reflection, reviewing provided materials, and preparing thoughts to discuss with peers and facilitator.
- Bring a current client or project context: For maximum benefit, participants should be actively working on a change initiative where they can apply insights from the program. If not, a side project or voluntary role is acceptable.
- Be open to constructive feedback: Approach the program with a growth mindset, ready to learn from peers and facilitators and share your own experiences and insights in return.
- Respect confidentiality: Maintain a supportive and professional environment by respecting the confidentiality of shared information about clients or sensitive organizational matters.
Who should attend
This program is designed specifically for organizational change professionals with a growth mindset and at least five years practical experience in implementing change initiatives.
Participants benefit from the knowledge and skills that they acquire but also from hearing about and helping peers in how they are applying what they learn. Most of the cohorts are global, adding more richness to the conversation.

Facilitator: Helen Palmer
Helen Palmer helps people learn so something different is possible. From big-picture concepts to practical tools that make an immediate difference in the here and now, she shapes learning experiences that have a dash of originality and a sprinkling of kindness.
Helen has a Swiss Army knife of talents and experience having delivered positive changes for teams drawing on Change Management, Applied Psychology, Experience Design and Information Management disciplines. She was previously on the Global Board of the Change Management Institute and is an Accredited Change Manager Master.
